Palay harvest & value calculator

From the sacks you weighed to what your palay is worth. Allow for moisture, see your cavans and metric tons per hectare, take off the harvesters' share and costs, and see how much bigas it mills to.

Your harvest

Count the sacks as they come off the field or thresher.

Fresh palay sacks are often heavier than a dry 50-kg cavan. Weigh a few and use the average.

From a moisture meter, or ask your buyer or the dryer. Freshly threshed palay is usually wetter than dry palay.

14% is the usual target for dry palay. Use your buyer’s standard.

Price and costs - from your buyer, harvesters and miller

Use your buyer’s quote, NFA or trader price. The starting number is only an example.

If harvesting or threshing is paid in palay, enter that share here. Leave 0 if you pay in cash.

How much milled rice your miller gets from dry palay. Ask your miller; 60–65% is common.

How we work it out

  • Moisture shrink: dry kg = weighed kg × (100 − moisture now) ÷ (100 − target moisture). The grain itself does not change; only the water goes.
  • Cavans and metric tons per hectare: dry kg ÷ 50 kg per cavan (or ÷ 1,000 for metric tons) ÷ hectares harvested, before any share is paid.
  • What it is worth: dry palay you keep × your price per kg, minus drying, hauling and other costs per cavan.
  • Bigas: dry palay you keep × milling recovery %. Husk and bran make up the rest.

An estimate only: meter readings, impurities, empty grains, the buyer's own moisture and quality deductions and the scale you use change the real figure. Check the numbers with your buyer, cooperative or miller. Nothing you type is stored or sent anywhere. For official rice statistics and farm advice, see the Philippine Rice Research Institute (PhilRice), the Department of Agriculture and the Philippine Statistics Authority. Words like palay, bigas and cavan are in the farm words glossary; ₱/kg ↔ ₱/cavan is in the unit converter.
